Thousands of fans once again converged to the muddy Daewoo Motors Park in Song-Do to see some of the world’s hottest bands perform at this year’s Pentaport Rock Festival, the biggest rock festival in Korea. The occasional downpour and massive mud puddles (the hallmark of any self-respecting rock festival) did not deter fans from cavorting ecstatically to the likes of Travis, Kasabian, The Gossip, Ellegarden, The Vines, Feeder, and headline act Underworld throughout the three-day festival which took place from 25-27th July.
In charge of providing the sound for the festival was South Korean rental company, C2 Sound, who recently replaced their entire inventory of Crown amplifiers with 30 pieces of Lab.gruppen FP 10000Q, the flagship 4-channel model of the dedicated touring FP+ Series. All 30 units were deployed to drive C2’s main EAW KF 760 line array system, supplemented by EAW JF210 centre fills and BH760 subs. The FP 10000Qs were evenly split with ten units each driving Left and Right main and subs and ten more for centre/side fills and monitors. Processing was courtesy of an EAW UX8800 digital loudspeaker/system processor.
C2’s FoH engineer in charge of the system is delighted with the results. he commented. “We’ve also made huge savings in weight and rack space. It’s incredibly light and takes up only half the space of our previous solution, yet we’ve got double the power. It’s an excellent investment for us.”
The amplifiers were supplied by Lab.gruppen’s exclusive distributor in the Republic of Korea, Seoul-based Sound Solution.
